The Contractor Business Boot Camp culmination is a deep dive into the power of Strategic Planning and a very interactive half day long tutorial into how to generate a real, live, working plan for your company. The attendees were fired up! Instructor John Stump had them filled to the brim with energy, enthusiasm, and excitement! And then Wayne dropped a wet blanket on the proceeding”.
Please tune in this week to find out what the biggest barrier to successful strategic planning is and how Wayne was so quickly able to puncture the Boot Camp excitement balloon (hint: EXECUTING strategic plans takes 100% commitment from senior leaders AND a big, big chunk of the very thing they have least available: TIME).
Please give us the benefit of your thinking and feedback in the comments section.
The next Contractor Business Boot Camp begins October 21st! Reserve seats now for your high potential NextGen leaders! Please contact Charlotte at ckopp@familybusinessinstitute.com to learn more about the program and the limited time early bird pricing.

This was perhaps your most impactful blog post to me personally. It confirmed the Catch-22 I have faced regarding implementation of strategic planning. Many times we put together a plan and, although I put a decent amount of time into implementation (which admittedly waned too quickly), it never approached 50% of my time because I simply did not have that much time. Now that I perhaps have the time, or closer to it, available, I do not have the will or energy to implement it, and, due to the small size of our executive staff, I am the only one who has the time. I am sure you will rightly say that strategic planning is just as valuable to a 35 employee firm as 3500, but I am not sure how to deal with this conundrum.

Hi Jon. Glad this one had more impact than usual. If you’d like to talk offline, I’m happy to visit with you. Just say the word, and we’ll schedule a telephone meeting. Thanks.
