Attracting and Retaining Millennials

You might be very surprised about the percent of today’s workforce comprise of Millennials. While millennials appear to have a different approach to their jobs in some ways, in reality they aren’t so different from previous generations. If you’re going to have a sustainable business, you must master the things it takes to attract and retain this vital generation.

  1. Your argument is spot on Wayne. Unless they feel they have a future in any enterprise, be it family business or employment outside the family, millennials will leave for greener and friendly pastures. In one research I conducted on why succession planning in family business was not going according to plan, it came out that the possible successor was not clear on the Mission and Values of his father’s empire and therefore chose to start his own computer company not too far from where the family business was. The millennials need to know they are welcome and that their input in decision making is valued as well.
